Nova Satori New Album Preview Videos

Way back in 2006, I decided out of the blue that I wanted to do a rock album with guitars, bass, drums - the whole nine. I’d played in an instrumental post-rock band back in high school and picked up the guitar or bass to add to a track here and there over the years, but aside from that, I’d largely let that whole thread go for many years. So when I was feeling a little frustrated with the increasing complexity of my electronic music tracks, returning to a more hands-on way of making music that was a complete departure from my previous style was incredibly appealing to me. The result was Nova Satori “A Sun of Sound”.

But again, after that project wound down, I let it fall by the wayside and pretty much forgot I’d even done it until last year I suddenly remembered it, dug up an old dusty PC, found the files and listened to it again for the first time in well over a decade.

I was inspired to bust the old guitar, bass, and drums out again to work on another batch of Nova Satori tracks, this time with a decidedly heavier sound. I spent the majority of 2023 working on developing a sound, writing songs, recording, and producing a brand new record that I’ll be releasing soon.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a preview of the album to give you a taste of what’s to come. I’ve created this playlist on my YouTube channel featuring 5 tracks from the album. All visualizations were created using the waveforms of individual elements of the compositions captured with an oscilloscope and goniometer.

Check it out, enjoy, and let me know what you think by commenting on the YouTube videos!
