Super Dimension relaunch
For as long as I’ve been creating, I’ve been compartmentalizing. I’ve never been the type of artist that had one core focus they poured themselves into. I loved to draw and paint, but I also loved to make beats and program synths, but I also loved to play guitar riffs and rock out on the drums, but I also loved to write and make films… Focus was never my strong suit.
I wanted to do it all, but in my heart I knew that I was all over the place. So it was never “Chris Oldaker” that was doing these things. It was the mysterious Cats on Earth or moto-SLAVE or Super Dimension Comics or Nova Satori. All these different projects lived in random little corners of the internet or in sketchbooks or word docs and I was content to let them all live in obscurity.
But part of getting older is gaining clarity and it finally occurred to me that, as with most things, the obvious answer was so obvious it was staring me in the face the whole time. The truth is, I’m an interdisciplinary, multi-media artist. Boom. There it is. I’m not sure why that never really occurred to me before, but now that it has, I felt like it was foolish to create multiple websites for each little project that I work on when they are all just facets of the same ongoing practice.
So if you’ve been reading this far, congratulations - you’ve finally arrived at the point. I’ve taken the last few weeks to reimagine Super Dimension as the online hub for all of my creative projects. You’ll now find my music projects along with comics. In the near future, I’ll be adding sections for other types of visual art, writing, and more.
